Applications are now open for the free Basic and Mid-Level Digital Literacy workshop, funded by the Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and Microsoft, supported by the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy and implemented by Wootlab Innovations.
The Digital States Initiative ensures that Nigerian youths are equipped with digital and entrepreneurial skills to reduce the digital divide and foster economic growth through jobs and livelihood opportunities.

About NITDA Digital States Initiative Programme

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in line Digital Literacy and Skills pillar of the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy for a Digital Nigeria (NDEPS), is launching a nationwide Digital Literacy and Skills Programme training for Nigerians tagged the Digital States Initiative. The Digital States initiative, designed as one of the implementation strategies of NDEPS, is aimed at equipping Nigerian youths with the necessary digital literacy skills that can facilitate Nigeria’s transition to the Digital Economy. The programme is aimed at training about 540 youths from each state of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. It is expected that about 20,000 Nigerians will benefit from the programme.

Batch 3 Training Details

The Batch 3 phase will cover residents in JIGAWA, BENUE, DELTA, AKWA/IBOM, ANAMBRA, OGUN, SOKOTO, OSUN, ONDO, FCT ABUJA, ZAMFARA states only.

Training Objectives

  • To empower youths with intermediate digital skills that will be needed to drive the digital economy transformation in Nigeria.
  • To empower youths with globally required and marketable skills to increase their employment opportunities.
  • To increase the number of industry-ready IT professionals in Nigeria
  • To improve sales of digital entrepreneurs in their new or already existing businesses.
  • To increase the productivity of students and employees at school and work.
  • To enable the creation of content to promote online businesses, especially on social media platforms.

Who Can Apply

Nigerian youths, entrepreneurs, working class and students who wish to equip themselves with the necessary digital skills needed to transform the digital economy of the country and also increase their chances of employment opportunities.

Available Training Areas

Candidates are to choose a preferred class based on based existing knowledge of digital skills, access to required work tools and expectations from the training. Below is the description of training content to help them choose effectively.

  1. Graphic Design – In this course, you will learn how to create eye-grabbing graphics on websites, stunningly arranged spreads in magazines, posters, infographics, book covers, product labels, logos, business cards, and signs. With these skills, you will be able to design graphics for businesses and enhance the value of your own business to attract more customers.
  2. Web Design – Web design refers to the design of websites (Page) that are displayed on the internet, a web designer works on the appearance, layout, and, in some cases, content of a website. Appearance, for instance, relates to the colours, font, and images used. Layout refers to how information is structured and categorized. A good web design is easy to use, aesthetically pleasing and suits the user group and brand of the website. In this course, we will learn in a fun and easy way.
  3. Productivity Tools – Productivity tools refer to the software that people use to create and produce documents, charts, and graphs. For many organisations and corporations, this skill set is a necessity. Skills taught include Microsoft 365 tools, and communications online. (Recommended for students, employees in the workforce, beginners in the use of digital tools)
  4. Digital Marketing – Skills taught include how to build your business, create and exploring the market etc. (Recommended for business owners and entrepreneurs)
