African Fashion Foundation has announced the application for the Roberto Annan Scholarship 2022 For African Students, for those interested in pursuing a degree in Fashion Communication and Industry Practice. The foundation is a non-governmental organization that empowers fashion designers and creative professionals from Africa and its diaspora to succeed in the global fashion industry.

About Roberta Annan Scholarship 2022

The Roberta Annan Scholarship has been created to support the best emerging young fashion communication, business, and media talent from Sub-Saharan Africa, providing financial support for their higher education. The Scholarship provides full fee remission for the Vogue Fashion Foundation Programme and the BA (Hons) Fashion Communication and Industry Practice degree programme for the successful applicant.

The Scholarship provides full fee remission for one of the following:

  • For undergraduates, applications are initially for entry into the one-year Vogue Fashion Foundation Programme. Upon successful completion of this, and a successful additional undergraduate progression interview, the student is expected to progress onto the BA (Hons) Fashion Communication & Industry Practice (2 years fast-track) undergraduate degree.
  • For Masters, One-Year Master 60 credits courses all based in ACM in Rome / Milan. Every Academic Master Programme involves Industry Projects and a research internship in order to make the study experience concrete.

Scholarship Eligibility

For Bachelor’s Programme, Students must have:

  • This is a competitive scholarship scheme aiming to support those with the greatest financial need, talent in the relevant subject areas, and future potential.
  • The Roberta Anan Scholarship is open to applications from nationals of the following Sub-Saharan African countries
  • Students must be aged at least 18 years old on 1st September at the start of the academic year in which they intend to join this course.
  • The standard entry requirements for this course are GCSE English and Maths at Grade C (4) or above, or the equivalent international qualifications. This in most cases would be one of the below:

    ● Senior School Certificate Examination,
    ● National Senior Certificate,
    ● National Diploma with higher credits,
    ● Higher National Diploma with credits

  • The successful candidate will need to provide evidence of the household income below the average for his / her country with one of the following:
    – Tax returns
    – Bank statements
    – Payslips

For Masters Programme, Students must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Bachelor of Arts related to the course of study of the Master
  • Bachelor Degree or Bachelor of Arts different from the above mentioned and not related to the study path of the Master, upon evaluation of the Academic Directorship on the eligibility of the application
  • Professionals with proven experience in the field and students holding a specialization or non-academic study titles related to the study path, upon evaluation of the Academic Directorship on the eligibility of the application
    – Valid Passport
    – Fluent and proficient in English
    Evidence of the above must be submitted with the application.

Required Documents

Applicants for the scholarship will need to submit the following:

  • A valid passport
  • A copy of a valid passport will need to be submitted
  • Academic Transcripts / Certificates
  • Copies of any qualifications achieved so far to demonstrate that the academic entry requirements have been met
  • Personal Statement – Each applicant is asked to provide information about themselves, including their personal details, education history, and any relevant work experience. They will be asked to write a 500-word personal statement describing their academic interests and reasons for applying to the Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design, which should include a link to the pre-recorded interview video.
  • Pre-Recorded Interview
    Video Applicants are required to record a short video interview with a mobile phone, webcam, tablet, or other appropriate devices, and will need to answer the four following questions; the video should be around (but no longer than) 10 minutes. The questions we would like applicants to answer are:
    – What do you know about Condé Nast College? (2 minutes)
    – What has motivated you to apply for this course (thinking particularly about future studies and your career journey)? (2 minutes)
    – What creatives and/or brands in the fashion industry do you most admire and why (3 minutes)
    – What are the most important issues or trends affecting the fashion industry right now in your opinion? (3 minutes)
