InterswitchSPAK National Science Competition for secondary school students in Nigeria and Kenya

Interswitch is now receiving applications for its InterswitchSPAK National Science InterswitchSPAK National Science Competition for secondary school students 4.0 in Nigeria and Kenya. InterswitchSPAK is the biggest Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) competition in Nigeria.

About InterswitchSPAK National Science Competition for secondary school students

InterswitchSPAK is a Pan-African Science competition focused on empowering African students in the STEM fields. The program was designed to help high school students create, spark, and plan a career path in the field of STEM education and help them realize their full potential to make Africa a better place for everyone.
To stimulate and retain a strong interest in STEM education in African high schools. It is our goal to raise the bar for STEM education in Africa by holding a fair competition and awarding cash prizes to students who achieve. Create a vehicle that truly cares about the growth, development, and well-being of African students and instructors, including scholarship programs for excellent STEM kids.

Programme Timeline

  • Registration of your students is open till 11:59pm, May 11th, 2022  (For Nigerians), and 11:59pm June 1st, 2022 for Kenyans
  • Online CBT exams will hold from Thursday 19th to Saturday 21st May, 2022 (For Nigerians), and Thursday 6th to Saturday 11th June 2022 (for Kenyans)

Programme Eligibility

For Nigerian Participants:

  • You must be a student in SSS2 (year 11) attending a Public or Private Secondary School in Nigeria
  • You must be between the age of 14 to 17
  • You must be resident in Nigeria
  • You must be willing to travel out of your state of abode if you are not resident in Lagos
  • Sound knowledge of Physics, Chemistry, Biology & Mathematics based on the current SS2 WAEC/NECO syllabuses is a necessity
  • You must be willing to comply with the rules of the competition as laid down by the producers

For Kenyans Participants:

  • You must be a student in form three (3)|Senior 5 attending a full-time Secondary education in any High school (Public and Private) in Kenya
  • You must be between the age of 15 to 18 residing in Kenya
  • You must be willing to travel out of your country
  • Sound knowledge of Physics, Chemistry, Biology & Mathematics based on the current form three (3) |Senior five (5) KNEC syllabus is important
  • You must be willing to comply with the rules laid down by the Producers

Programme Benefits

First Prize
Nigeria: The first prize winner will get five (5) years of University Scholarship. Annual stipend worth ₦7,500,000 (Seven million, five hundred Naira). Brand New Laptop. Bragging right of being the best Science student in Nigeria
Kenya: Five (5) years University Scholarship worth- $ 11,250 + annual stipend (T&C) + Laptop + Certificate of participation

Second Prize
Nigeria: The second prize winner will get three (3) years of University Scholarship. Annual stipend worth ₦4,000,000 (four million Naira). Brand New Laptop.
Kenya: Three (3) years University Scholarship worth- $ 5,400 + annual stipend (T&C) + Laptop + Certificate of participation

Third Prize
Nigeria: The third prize will get a year of University Scholarship worth ₦1,000,000 + Brand New Laptop.
Kenya: A year University Scholarship worth- $ 1,250 (T&C) + Laptop + Certificate of participation

How to Register

  • A school may enroll a maximum of ten pupils. There is a six-student minimum and a ten-student maximum per school. regardless of sex, religion, or ethnicity.
  • There must be at least two female pupils among a mixed-six school’s (6) students to represent them
  • The first round of competition is intended to include all of the applicants who have registered on the platform by the time and date set by the organizer.
  • The second round of the online qualifying examination will be administered to the Top 500 candidates from each state who have passed the first round of testing. The top 81 students from this round will then advance to the second round of the competition, which is a TV quiz show.

    a. Within three days, the examination will take place (8hours per day). Students can take the test on any of the three (3) days they want, as long as the time slot is open.
    – Nigerian candidates have a choice of three (3) days to pick from (between 8am -6pm) to write the examination.
    – Kenyan candidates have a choice of three (3) days to pick from (between 10am -6pm) to write the examination.
    b. Before taking the test, each student on the platform will receive a five-minute demo session to familiarize themselves with the platform.
    c. Students who have enrolled for the CBT will be given two chances to take it, and the system will choose the best score from the two.
    d. Individual results will be released instantly to the students
